A SPION-eicosane protective coating for water soluble capsules: Evidence for on-demand drug release triggered by magnetic hyperthermia.
An orally-administered system for targeted, on-demand drug delivery to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is highly desirable due to the high instances of diseases of that organ system and harsh mechanical and physical conditions any such system has to endure. To that end, we present an iron oxide nanoparticle/wax composite capsule coating using magnetic hyperthermia as a release trigger. The coat...
متن کاملRemotely nano-rupturable yolk/shell capsules for magnetically-triggered drug release.
Yolk/shell capsules containing a volume/hydrophobicity transformable core and an ultra-thin silica shell have been prepared. When an external magnetic field induced the temperature, the cores exhibit a significant triggering size shrinkage and the diameter decreases more than 10 times, causing solid shells destruction and physical collapse, leading to drug burst release.
متن کاملTriggered release in lipid bilayer-capped mesoporous silica nanoparticles containing SPION using an alternating magnetic field.
We report here the on-command cargo controlled delivery using an alternating magnetic field (AMF) from magnetic silica mesoporous supports capped with a lipid bilayer.
متن کاملTriggered-release polymeric conjugate micelles for on-demand intracellular drug delivery.
Nanoscale drug delivery platforms have been developed over the past four decades that have shown promising clinical results in several types of cancer and inflammatory disorders. These nanocarriers carrying therapeutic payloads are maximizing the therapeutic outcomes while minimizing adverse effects. Yet one of the major challenges facing drug developers is the dilemma of premature versus on-de...
متن کاملUltrasound-triggered release from multilayered capsules.
The growing need for drug-delivery systems that release their contents in a desired fashion has intensified research for “smart carriers” with intelligent properties. Compared to more established delivery vehicles, such as polymeric micelles, liposomes, and small colloidal particles, polymeric polyelectrolyte multilayered capsules 8] are emerging materials with high potential as macromolecular ...
